The underlining authority the environment has over us and how we try to control our surroundings has always moved me when creating images. I look at how we merge with the natural world around us even though we try and keep it contained with fences and concrete. I am drawn towards the simple or unnoticed that reminds me of the space we share and not just occupy. In this modern world I believe people can lose that original connection that is intended for all of us to be a part of. As an artist, I feel my role is to be like a bridge or instigator for finding a connection back to our surroundings whether they are nature or man made. By showing the connectoins I feel and see, I hope to inspire connection in others.
